NZ DAY 93
QUEEN CHARLOTTE TRACK: Bay of Many Coves To Cow Shed Bay 16KM ( Total KM's walked 1049)
An amazing walk today with lots and lots of photo opportunities,(see pics)it was hard going as it was all up hill. Great views of the sound.
HIGHLIGHT: Dinnertime and the great company. Sat at a communal table with people from all over the world who are walking and exploring NZ
LOWLIGHT: The campsite tonight is very crowded.
I am so lucky gratitude comes easy when your living your life on your own terms. However I am grateful that I recognise this, as there are some people that have great lives but never stop to appreciate their life. Im grateful for having an open heart and not being afraid to open up. I grateful for the Taj it really is a beautiful home.
NZ DAY 92
QUEEN CHARLOTTE TRACK: Endeavour Inlet to Bay of Many Coves 18KM ( Total KM's walked 1033)
A slow start to the day with us not getting out of bed until 8.30 breaking camp around 9.45am . Today’s walk was really lovely with lots of gorgeous views of the Sound, the track was a good track but it climbed quiet quickly my body is certainly feeling the climbs. David and I where discussing today that we know longer part of a tribe, what we mean is walking the Te Araroa everyone you meet has something in common. Regardless of age, gender or reason why they are here you are all got the same goal. This creates a really close bond with near total stranger. Now we are no longer doing the TA we no longer belong. We have met a lot of people these last 2 days just section hiking the Queen Charlotte Pass, but after initial conversation there is nothing to share. So we need to find a new tribe!
HIGHLIGHT: The enormity of scenery it’s massive, I love how big it all seems.
LOWLIGHT: My feet are really hurting, breaking in new shoes, no blisters just sore.
Solitude, sounds of silence and something called thinking
Grateful for some time alone, which gives me energy. I love people and enjoy the conversation I am having but it does drain my energy. So to have some time to myself is a luxury . I am grateful for the rain last night loved laying in bed listening to the rain on the roof. Must of admit it was a bit cold walking in the rain at 3am to go to the loo. Grateful that I’m learning to have good conversation with myself in my head. Feeling very irresistible today.
NZ DAY 91
QUEEN CHARLOTTE TRACK: Picton to Endeavour Outlet 15KM (Total KM's walked 1015)
Well at last we are back on the road, after a false start yesterday due to bad weather. We had a perfect crossing over from the North Island. Then straight on the mail boat up to Ship Cove it was a really picturesque ride . Then it was straight on with ours packs and go go go 4 hours of daylight left to cover 15 km. The track was easy going but felt like hard work . It’s amazing how much form you loose in a month. By the time we got into camp I was well and truly stiffening up. The weather wasn’t great for photography but good for walking cool with a intermittent drizzle some great views over the sound .( sorry no pickiest due to our rushing.
HIGHLIGHT: Has to be walking again after a month with people around us the peace of the track just David and I was really delicious
LOWLIGHT: usually I’m grateful for my body but today it felt like an alien, it moaned and groaned the whole 15 KMs.
Grateful today for the weather the crossing from North to South Island was pleasant. Grateful for being here at this beautiful place.
