NZ DAY 103
WILD WEST ROAD TRIP: Wanaka to Mount Cook 20KM ( Total KM's walked 1125)
Today was one of those days where you just have to thank the universe for the magic. We decided to get up and early and do the 6 hour walk up Roy’s Peak, a climb of 1580m over 8km. Something we both wanted to see........ but not necessarily do the climb. Unfortunately if you want o see these things you have to do the work. So up early made some rolls for lunch, and of we went. The climb up was two and a half hours of a steady up hill, hard but doable. Certainly one we would feel tommorow. However when we got to the top. It was all worth while. New Zealand is constantly amazing me with her beauty. We could see for miles, we where actually higher than some of the helicopter flying past. The down hill played havoc with my knees and my bladder was at bursting point all the way down. All worth it though. Then we headed out to Mt Cook with the idea od spending the night and getting up in the morning and doing a hike up to see Mt Cook. However due to the changing weather we decided to do the walk planed for the next morning when we arrived at 3.00pm. S a quick stop at the cafe picked up 2 Smoked chicken salads and onto the track ......well it was a valentines dinner that will be hard to beat. Sitting at the bottom of Mt Cook, sun shining eating smoke chicken salad with the Spunky Rooster. PERFECTION. THANK YOU UNIVERSE FOR ALL THE GIFTS I EXPERIENCED TODAY.
HIGHLIGHT: Valentines dinner at Mt Cook
LOWLIGHT: How sore I am
Grateful for our persistence, we have pushed and pushed each other until now were we are fit enough to pump out over 20km uphill. I am grateful for my eyes that constantly look ahead and most of the time look at the positive. I am grateful that not only am I making great memories but I have been fortunate enough
that I can look back over my life and I have lots of great memories that I have shared with of family friends and strangers.
