NZ DAY 20
BREAM BAY WALK: Mc Kenzie Bay to Waipu 27km (total KM's walked 407)
Exhaustion has set in, I am so tired that I’m not enjoying anything. So we have decided to take a rest day in Waipo . Waipo is nothing special but we both need a rest. So today we left the sanctuary that was the Green Bus Stop and headed towards Reotahi Bay to make the boat trip across to Rakuku. Well what a delight, the walk meandered in and out of pretty little coves. Stopped around 11.00 am for a ice cream. It’s amazing what you crave when your walking 25-30 km a day. Headed around to Reotahi Bay our ferry pick up point and everyone stripped of and went for a swim. The backdrop of the pickup point was Bream Head the huge hill we climb yesterday. Then it was a 22km road walk to Waipo no scenery just cars and truck buzzing past. Secured a double room at the local pub. Amazing how good a cold raspberry and a perfectly cooked steak can make you feel.
HIGHLIGHT: The scenery between McKenzie Bay to Reotahi Bay
LOWLIGHT: State Highway walking.
Grateful for the chef at the Waipo pub who knows how to cook a medium rare steak perfectly. Grateful to have time alone with the Spunky rooster, it seems we are around people all the time recently. Grateful for time out.
