JAPAN DAY 44
Temples 61-64. 16kms
Total kms walked in Japan 939
Accumulative total of kms walk 3592
Downhill from 60 easy through forrest and straight in the backdoor of 61 so we thought. Upon entering what we thought was the temple we found no one around ,further investigation we realised we weren’t in the right place.couldn’t find anyone so followed signs and found something that didnt look like a temple but was. Then they informed us that Temple 62 was no longer part of the official 88 but we could get our book stamped in the car park, a little miffed we made our way to the car park discussing what where we could do our prayers. When we came upon a demountable in the car park with a shrine on one side and the stamp office on the other Temple 62 prayer taken car of. Made our way to 63 very underwhelming a temple in the back yard of about 4 houses. Temple 64 was very impressive see pictures. We were suppose to spend the night as various blogs said there was an enclosed hut instead there was a carport and due to the weather we thought it best to keep walking. We had not budgeted for paid accommodation tonight but we have had to stay in a hotel so will be looking at some free option further down the trail.
HIGHLIGHT: Sleeping inside and comfortable whilst it is pouring down outside.
LOWLIGHT: There now only being 87 official temples
Grateful for having enough wriggle room in the budget as to not worry that we have to pay for a nights accomodation. Grateful for my new rain poncho kept me and my pack completely dry in the pouring rain. Grateful for the Spunky Rooster and all his patience coming down the hill today.
