JAPAN DAY 29

Temple 40  21km
Total kms walked in Japan  639
Accumulative total kms walked 2352

Today was a typical Japanese day, rain in the morning then hot and humid in the afternoon, so although we only walked 21km I was very happy to reach temple 40. There was a lot of discussion today regarding enlightenment because today we walked into the third prefecture Ehime the prefecture of enlightenment.  So what is enlightenment? What is enlightenment? Who knows!!!

Today are prayers where for patience, something I think most of the human race needs to practice. Our fast paced world has conditioned us to want  everything at lightening speed, food, technology, answers.

HIGHLIGHT: the tsyuado tonight it is so cute with a loft.
LOWLIGHT: I have a bad heat rash on my bra line which is giving me curry.

Grateful for the insights I am getting along the trail.  Grateful for silent time on the trail and quieting my mind. This is one of the greatest gifts the trail gives you, to be able to quieter the mind and have singular thoughts. It’s amazing how much clarity comes with a quiet mind. It’s why I support and will continue to support Smiling Mind. Mediation and Mindfulness is a mostly untapped resource in us all. Grateful for my beautiful daughter and her ability to make me smile.

Every year 160,000 people undertake the pilgrimage, walkers account for just 1%. The pilgrimage doesn’t distinguish the achievement between car, bike or bus. It does not adhere to a strict order just that you visit all 88 temples and pray at all 88
