NZ DAY 5
90 MILE BEACH TRACK : Waipapakauri to Ahipara 20KM (Total KM's waked 110)
A rainy doom and gloom start to the day today. A great decision to get a cabin last night, it bucketed down and blew a gale. Threw the pack on this morning with rain gear and hit the beach AGAIN for the last leg on the beach. A light rain for the first hour. Number one thing I love about being on the trail is the amazing people you meet. People that are quiet unique but create an amazing tribe of walkers.
Hooray we are off the beach and over the 100km mark. We came of the beach straight into Ahipara Holiday Park and with rain looming we decided to get a cabin again. It’s amazing how a hot shower can make you feel human, spent quite a bit of time removing sand from all my orifices. The park had a huge comfy lounge area which we utilised to the max, so nice to be out of the wind. Tomorrow we have decided to take a zero day.
HIGHLIGHT: I haven’t mention this before but everyday the best thing about this journey is the people you met and the journey stories. Everyone is here for their own adventure and by being true to their own journey they add to everyone’s journey . Now that’s universal magic.
LOWLIGHT: The sausages we had for dinner they were atrocious.
Grateful for the end of the beach, grateful for self knowledge...understanding myself just a little bit more. Grateful fort the vibe on the trail of acceptance and support.
