NZ DAY 100
WILD WEST ROAD TRIP : Westport to Hokitika 6KM (Total KM's walked 1091)
Waking up this morning we were glad we had slept in the car as it had rained heavily all night and the ground was flooded. We then headed out to take a look at Cape Foulwind Walkway with the promise of seals and panoramic views of mountains and coastline. Unfortunately the clouds were so low we could see nothing until about 11 am. The clouds then lifted and the coastline was quiet picturesque. We stopped and braved the rain and wind at Pancake rocks ( A pnenomenium that can’t be explained where the rocks look like a stack of pancakes. Then it was on to Hokitika the home of greenstone (Jade)
HIGHLIGHT: Watching the artisan carve greenstone
LOWLIGHT: The bloody persistent rain
Grateful for the car and doing the West Coast, NZ is a spectacular country and Im glad we have been able to see a bit more of it. For dinner tonight we cooked steaks and they were perfect so grateful for this. (First red meat for days).I am so grateful today and everyday for end of day cuddles with the Spunky Rooster.
