Short 15k walk today to catch up on some RnR.
Sorry i didn't check in yesterday but we were in the middle of nowhere after 25k and no mobile or Internet service, (being a pilgrim is just not the same these days). So we stopped at this igloo in San Bol (see pic), which turned out to be a fantastic place. Because we don't book ahead we take a chance on getting a bed. As such, all we were offered was a wooden mattress on the floor in the loft, yes igloos in spain have lofts! Oh did I mention the generator gets turned on at 6 and off at 8. Tanya was less than impressed with my selection of accommodation. There were still 4 pre booked pilgrims to arrive. Really not wanting to sleep on the wooden mattress on the floor we put guns at the ready, nets were set and closed signs posted. Fortunately they didn't arrive and we slept on the best mattresses and pillows we have had so far it even had underfloor heating - in your face four star hotel in Burgos (although watching the Simpsons in Spanish is still a laugh. So after a bottle of red a three course dinner, extremely funny conversation with 9 others from different countries and only one who could translate we lit a fire had a great night and slept like a baby. Don't worry we are back to 25 k tomorrow. Stay safe buen camino.
During dinner one of the other Pelegrino's told the story of Sol Bol and why he had chosen to stay the night. Rumour has it that Sol Bol was a busy little Farmer village of about 2000 people. One day the fresh fruit cart from the village never arrive at the next village. The neighbouring village went to investigate why and found the village completely deserted. To this day none knows where the villagers went.
So even though we have AMAZINGLY comfy bed tonight, I think I will be sleeping with one eye open.
